What is Eucharistic Adoration?
Eucharistic Adoration is a time spent in the loving presence of Jesus Christ, who is truly and fully present, Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity in the Blessed Sacrament. Although we cannot see Him with our eyes, faith assures us that we are in the Real Presence of Christ.
During Adoration, we are invited to simply watch, wait, and remain with Jesus. In the quiet of His presence, we can pray, speak with Him in the depths of our hearts, listen for His voice, or simply rest in His love. There is no need for elaborate words or actions; our presence itself becomes an act of loving adoration.
As we spend time before the Blessed Sacrament, we open our hearts to the grace that flows from Christ. Sitting with him, Jesus gently draws us closer, transforming our hearts and shaping us more fully into the people God created us to be. Eucharistic Adoration is ultimately an invitation to be with Jesus to contemplate His goodness, encounter His love, and allow His presence to transform us.

Adoration Chapel
Our adoration chapel is located in the St. Benedict Cathedral Catholic Church at
1328 Lincoln Avenue, Evansville, IN 47714. Adorers are needed to cover each hour that the Blessed Sacrament is exposed. Please prayerfully consider making a weekly commitment and sign up below.
Chapel Hours
- Monday: 8am - noon in the Adoration chapel
- Eucharistic Adoration is open every Monday noon to 6pm in the Cathedral Church with Benediction at 5:45pm
- Tuesday through Friday: 8am - 3:30pm
- Saturday: 8am - 4pm

Join us every Monday in the Sanctuary to adore the Blessed Sacrament as a parish community.

Women of Prayer First Monday Rosary
All women are welcome! Come with prayer intentions for yourself and/or others. We will take time to meditate on these intentions and offer these intentions through the intersession of the Blessed Mother. Every 1st Monday from 6 - 7pm.
Back to School Eucharistic Adoration Kickoff
Meet at the front of the church after the 4:30pm Mass on Saturday, August 29 or 8am and 10am Sunday, August 30 Masses to learn about Eucharistic adoration and adore with a group. You can have questions answered and prayerfully visit Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament.

What is Eucharistic Adoration?
Eucharistic Adoration is spending time with Jesus Christ who is truly present, Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity in the Holy Eucharist. The consecrated Host is displayed (Eucharistic Exposition) in a holder called a monstrance for adoration.
Who can come?
Everyone is welcome to come before Our Lord Jesus Christ during Eucharistic Adoration. Bring your children, they are our future adorers. Jesus said, “Let the children come to Me and do not hinder them: for such belongs the kingdom of heaven.” (Mt 19:14) Invite family, neighbors, and friends to join you. Your joy with the Lord may be what others are looking for.
How long do I stay?
There is no set amount of time that one must stay at Adoration. Please feel welcome to drop in to say a quick hello to Jesus. Do not underestimate the graces that will come from any visit. Regularly scheduled adorers are asked to commit to a one-hour time to ensure that our Lord is never left unaccompanied.
What does it mean to be a faithful adorer?
Faithful adorers commit to adoring for an hour or more - generally each week. This is crucial since Christ displayed in the monstrance must never be left alone. Adorers enable Eucharistic exposition for any and all persons wanting to make a shorter visit to the Lord.
How are faithful adorers scheduled and how long is the commitment?
Each adorer determines which hour is best for him or her. We never assign hours to anyone. An hour that fits you well will help you keep your commitment. You can sign up at any time. Faithful adorers are committed to their weekly hour and should continue fulfilling their commitment. It's ok if you need to reevaluate your commitment. If your schedule changes or life events require you to change your commitment, please contact us and we will adjust the schedule of adorers.

What happens if I am sick or on vacation?
You may have an occasion that will keep you from being able to spend your weekly holy hour before the Blessed Sacrament. That's okay. Please email us and we will work to find a substitute.
If you have a change in your schedule or life event that makes your commitment challenging to fulfill, prayerfully consider continuing to be a faithful adorer for an hour that is more suitable for your schedule.
What happens if the person after me does not show up?
If you are willing to stay, you are welcome to stay.
If you need to leave an adoration chapel, never leave the Blessed Sacrament exposed and unattended. Instructions for closing the tabernacle and leaving will be provided.
What do I do while spending time in front of the Blessed Sacrament?
Let the Holy Spirit guide you. This is your personal time with Jesus. There are no set prayers. After entering the chapel, genuflect on one knee or two, if you cannot genuflect a simple bow. You may offer a prayer of Adoration to begin your Holy Hour. You may sit or kneel. Spend this time contemplating that you are in the presence of God. Pray and converse with Him. You can read available spiritual books, pray the rosary, or spend time just talking with Jesus. There are blessed rosaries and a variety of reading materials for your convenience.
I don't know if I can commit to a certain hour. How can I be involved?
You can add your name to be a substitute as needed. If one is needed, you will be notified by text or email requesting help. Of course, Adoration is always open so even if you are not signed up, come and spend time with the Lord.

When I first made Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament a habit, I prayed the Rosary, the Divine Mercy Chaplet, and other devotional prayers, along with personal prayers of praise, adoration, thanksgiving, and song. I would tell God what was on my mind and what I was struggling with. Over time, I was also, led to encounter God in stillness and in silence. The reason I love Eucharistic Adoration so much is because sometimes life can beat you down and have you feeling low, but you can take comfort in knowing that the Lord is waiting for you in our Adoration Chapel. He wants you to come visit Him. If you can’t be there for an hour, that’s alright, He will take any time you have to give. I've been a faithful adorer for a little over a decade, and it completely transformed my faith and prayer life. In my early 30s, my relationship with our Lord and Catholicism felt stagnant. My wife invited me to join her in an hour before the Blessed Sacrament. Together, we prayed the rosary and sat in silent contemplation. Soon thereafter, I felt called to adore regularly. In the adoration chapel, I heard God speak the words "Come to Me, be with Me, stay with Me". It was challenging at first to quiet my mind and just be with Him, but as I continued it became easier. Now, my weekly holy hour is one of the things I look forward to most each week.
I started attending adoration regularly as a new stay-at-home mom as a way to find some "me" time and create a routine with the transition. God has taken my small and somewhat selfish 'yes' to spending time with Him and has completely transformed my life. I have NEVER left adoration feeling like I wish I had done something else and am always so grateful I had the time in front of the Blessed Sacrament; to sit, be quiet, experience true peace, and to be with Jesus. Just as a child loves sharing time with their mom or dad after a long day of work or after time away, so our Lord wishes just to spend time with us.
