From Fr. Godfrey
– I’M OK. Serious thanks to all who have been so kind to me over the past several months. This has been a demanding time for me, but there have been many blessings along the way. 1) Many continue to ask about my parents. Dad just got a clean bill of health from the oncologist. Mom continues down the path of Alzheimer’s. She rarely makes sense when she speaks, but so much of the rest of her personality remains intact, especially her humor. Her transition to the nursing home was complicated by another infection, but she seems very comfortable now. I make it a priority to visit them every single week, usually on Sunday or Monday (my day off). Some have perhaps noticed that I protect that day off more than ever right now – for my sanity and your good! 2) Being administrator at Resurrection Parish has also come with wonderful blessings. I typically go out there for the school Mass on Tuesdays at 7:35AM and stay for one meeting afterwards — finance council, pastoral council, or staff. Their staff is very capable (as is ours). I’ll likely be the administrator there till June. One of our Saint Meinrad monks will be taking the weekend Masses beginning in February through the beginning of June. 3) Our church renovation has moved along well. So many have pitched in to dust, clean, and arrange those blasted chairs! Won’t we be close to heaven when the pews return and are BOLTED in place for another hundred years? It’s exciting to see the progress. I’m getting used to the mess, but only a little! Thanks also to those who helped plan for the renovation. Our many meetings have made for easy construction meetings. And thanks, also, to Entheos Architects and Brandt Construction and all our local subcontractors for their expert and efficient work. I’m particularly grateful for their flexibility with our schedule of liturgies (especially Holy Days).
I will always welcome your prayers for me. And for those I have offended during this demanding time, I’m sorry. May God bless us all with hope!
– SGO. As I’ve announced a time or two and have put out information: our Scholarship Granting Project is of great benefit to some of our school families. It also offers a tax credit for donors. If you’re paying Indiana taxes and itemizing, this is a great way to help the parish!
