– Thanks to all who showed such kindness to my FAMILY last weekend. I know some people don’t care to have their “worlds collide.” I’ve always delighted in it! I’m glad they get to love you, too. And I love that you get to know them. Again, thank you!
After a few years of not celebrating it, we’re bringing back OKTOBERFEST. The Saturday, October 21 evening will include a smoked pork chop dinner (with baked potato, vegetable, and dessert) 5:30-6:30. At 6:30, we will begin the Reverse Raffle, the winner receiving $5,000 for being the last ticket drawn. Afterwards, there will be music and visiting till 9:00. A raffle ticket is $100.00 and admits two for dinner. Dinner can also be purchased without a raffle ticket for $15.00 per person. “Oktoberfest beverages” will be available for purchase throughout the evening. While I hope that we raise money with the raffle, there is a stronger desire that we have an autumn event for parishioners to gather together to have fun and enjoy the company of each other. Reverse Raffle tickets will be available after Mass for the next two weeks and until the 25th ticket is drawn on the evening of October 21. Children are welcome to be present.
Helping Victims of Natural Disasters
Again next weekend, at the request of the United States Bishops, we will have the WHITE ENVELOPES at the doors of church to help benefit our brother and sisters in Florida, Mexico, and Puerto Rico who are still suffering from natural disasters. Please be as generous as you can be.
– Anyone who took part in last weekend’s LINCOLNSHIRE FRONT PORCH FESTIVAL knows what a beautiful evening it was. Congratulations to the organizers! And THANK YOU to ROSANNA EVANS and her helpers for selling dumplings for the benefit of the parish! Great work, ladies!
Volunteering your time
– Again, if anyone has TIME TO VOLUNTEER to assist with maintenance projects here at the parish, please let us know at the parish office. – Thanks to the ENTIRE PARISH STAFF, and FATHER TED for covering for me while I was on Convocation. Spending time with the other priests is always a blessing to me. – I give thanks to God for the beautiful PARTICIPATION we so often enjoy at St. Ben’s. Anyone who takes part in the work of our parish community — in church, in school, in all that we do — knows what a joy it is to take a rightful pride in what our parish does and is. Being involved is the surest way to get to know others and make good on Christ’s call for us to be cheerful givers.
